Hello Adam,

you might not be in the right area. The button you are looking to skin is located in skin studio in:

START PANEL:

Startmenu.buttonbackground (this is the button that is the mouse over for the start menu.

it is also recommended that you check out other skins with this button and check their sizes and margins ect so it works for you also. margins are very important when it comes to this button, it can be tricky, but the best way to get success is to see another skin, copy the size and margins (but do your own design of course) and you have a winner. dont forget after you have applied this button to save in skin studio and then apply the changes to window blinds and your new button should be there.!!

hope this helps.!!

also i forgot to add, that if you use a png file for this button dont forget to check the transparent and translucency check boxes on the bottom right, this enables transparency to take place and lets window blinds know that transparency is being used.

an stupid object... an stupid animal

'a stupid object', or 'an object', not 'an stupid object'...
'a stupid animal', or 'an animal', not 'an stupid animal'...

Anymore errors like this and you'll have Jafo playing with his stupid toy...

Kitty Malone. Bear in mind that this version is SS6 as I mentioned. Apparently SS6 does not allow the skinning of item mouseover.

But this may also be an issue with windowblinds since the section in SS6 does show an image present
and avaiable for resizing, coloring etc etc. It may be a bug in WB6 beta. I hope this is this case.

Hmmm, I'm seeing it ok here. 'Edit Start Menu and Taskbar' > 'Edit Start Menu' > 'Item Mouseover'.

Fuzzy logic. I can see the sections just fine in SS6. Item mouseover images aren't displayed once you apply the skin to wb6 beta. Nor are logoff background images and logoff button images displayed. Only the logoff/turn off computer icons are displayed.

oooh im sorry Adam....I only have ss5.... *silly kitty didnt think!!*

.......but other than this, what format is your button in? png or bmp? maybe yr not checking something? also in the painting options, you can check things there to and allow png to be applied....(just a thought...i could be WAY off though....) if i had ss6 id probably know..... There has to be a reason why its not showing up...and it will probably end up being something simple.

I truly hope you find yr answer.... (ps..after you get the answer at least you wont forget in a hurry!  )

save ur skin, open in SKS5 add ur menu item.. if indeed its not in 6.. save it.. reopen in 6. You can have both installed on your system

I always do item mouseover images in png format, for what it's worth I've been skinning off and on since 2001. I did save the skin in SS5 and then reopened it in SS6. Everything is where it is supposed to be with one exception. Windowblinds 6 is not allowing those images to appear. This is begining to smell bad like previous versions of windowblinds. Like not being able to skin MDI buttons in Wb5, it now appears that you will not be able to skin item mouseover and logoff backgrounds in WB6. Hopefully this is a beta issue however I do have my doubts.

vStyler. For what it's worth. I've been away from the computer all week and it has been shut off. This afternoon I fired it up and my skin is working the way it is supposed to. I can't explain it because I tried the same approach last weekend. Rebooting wasn't helping and yet this time it worked. I still think it has to do with the beta version being a little buggy.
